Early
Learning
Center

The Early Learning
Center at Christ church provides age appropriate play experiences in a
Christian environment where children can develop their individual and
unique potential socially, emotionally, spiritually, intellectually, and
physically.
The Center provides a
positive, flexible, creative and meaningful environment that is loving,
warm, and secure for each child. Our goal is that each child learns that
he or she is a child of God and a person to be valued for their own
uniqueness.

Crib, Toddler, and Two
Program
The Crib, Toddler, and Two program serves children from eight months through two
years of age. The program is offered Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:30 am
to 2:30 pm. Children may be enrolled for one, two, or three days each week. This
program resembles the Christian love and learning found at home, and adds
playmates, a variety of early childhood materials, challenging activities, and
an experienced staff.
Preschool Program
The Preschool program serves children three to five years old. Classrooms are
arranged in learning centers with hands-on experiences with blocks, drama,
housekeeping, manipulative materials, a worship center, science, creative art,
language, and group experiences. Children are encouraged to move freely
throughout the room, exploring and discovering concepts relating to numbers,
shapes, colors, vocabulary, and god's world. Preschool classes meet from 9:30 am
to noon on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays. Optional extended sessions are
available from noon to 2:30 and feature music, science, and gymnastics.
Transitional Kindergarten
Transitional kindergarten is a program designed especially for five year olds
who need a "growth year" before entering a traditional kindergarten class.
Activities are designed to enhance thinking skills and problem solving
abilities, and help develop social skills and school readiness.
Enrichment
Enrichment beyond the classroom occurs with field trips for preschoolers.
Specialty teachers provide weekly opportunities to learn about music, hands-on
science projects, and physical education. Monthly worship services are held in
the sanctuary for children 2 1/2 to five.
Summer Program
The Early Learning Center offers a summer program each June, featuring
opportunities for sand play, field trips, art, music, and interest center
activities.
The Staff
ELC teachers are
experienced educators with teaching experience, preschool and early childhood
training, and a sensitivity to the individual needs of the young child. Parents
are encouraged to visit the classrooms any time and may make appointments with
teachers for further discussions.
